Praised for her “bright, luminous soprano” soprano Kali Hardwick is rapidly gaining recognition for her “vocal mastery” and magnetic stage craft (Der Opernfrund). In her recent appearance as Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi at Theater St. Gallen, critics celebrated her “sublime soprano voice with youthful  radiance” (Oper und Kultur), her “clean highs” and “enchanting piani” (Online Merker), and her portrayal of a young woman torn between devotion and self-determination. As Musetta in La bohème, she captivated audiences with a “full, rounded soprano voice” and an interpretation delivered with “sparkling brilliance” (Der Opernfreund).

In the 2026/27 season Hardwick joins Theater St. Gallen for three productions: La Cenerentola in the role of Clorinda, Susanna in the role of Mrs. Gleaton, and Alcina in the role of Morgana. Since the 2023/24 season, Hardwick has been a member of the ensemble at Theater St. Gallen, where she has quickly distinguished herself across a wide range of repertoire. She made her role debut as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, earning praise from Roccosound for a performance that was “fresh, cheeky and heartfelt,” marked by a “wonderfully spontaneous and graceful stage presence.” Her Jemmy in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell drew similar admiration for its vitality and charm—“funny… played with vitality and brilliance” (Musikkritik)—as well as vocal glow, with Oper Aktuell highlighting her “bell-like tones.” As the soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana, she impressed with a “silvery light timbre” and “bright, clear soprano.”

Other recent performances include Adele in Die Fledermaus and Vierte Magd in Strauss’s Elektra. Of her performances as Adele, Oper Aktuell noted that “as soon as she sings and lets her coloratura sparkle, you are glued to her lips.”

Before joining Theater St. Gallen, Hardwick was a member of the OperAvenir studio at Theater Basel, where she sang Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, along with Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Anna (Intermezzo), and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi). A major early milestone was her debut as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, a role she went on to perform more than twenty times during the 2021/22 season as part of the Theater Basel ensemble. Hardwick is a graduate of Royal Academy of Music in London.
